Working For A Car Battery Sales Company

for the past six months I've been working for a national car battery manufacturer as a regional sales representative, prior to getting the job I had no idea how complex the car battery market was or indeed how many car batteries where available within the UK.

As part of my job I travel around the UK visiting small to medium garages who stock our batteries. What I find amazing is the sheer difference in price each garage sells the same battery for as an example garage "a" on one side of the city sells a car batteries with an average 200% markup from the distribution price whereas garage "b" be on the other side of the city is selling exactly the same products as garage "a" but at a fraction of the price with a typical markup of around 10%.

Both garages are highly reputable and used by many hundreds of motorists, however the shocking statistical information shows that garage "a" sells almost 5 times the number of car batteries they garage "b" resells within a six-month period.

I can only assume that garage a has a strong sales policy, hiding the price of their products into the maintenance of labor work that they garage does on a daily basis.

as with almost all industries it appears that more and more consumers are turning to online Internet websites in order to buy their car batteries within minutes the average consumer is able to find a massive volume of website geared up to sell the consumer a vast array of batteries spanning multiple manufacturers varying price ranges and amazing warranty periods.

Each for the each sales representative the companies called into a national account manager meeting to discuss forecasts and sales growth, it's almost funny the pressure sales directors of the company place upon us ignoring the fact that the marketplace is full of cheap imported product the online providers are selling with a ten-year warranty and a next day delivery is it any wonder our major accounts that make up some of the country's largest independent car garages simply don't buy the product to allow us to hit target.

I'm certain I won't hold my job for long as sales is becoming difficult and each and every day accounts are leaving us to buy the cheaper imported product that in all honesty is as good as our own at a fraction of the price. I guess reality will hear our directors when they fire all the sales representatives and realize overnight non-UK manufacturers have hit the market running and stolen 90% of the client base, they continually bark on about customer services the pride of the UK and other reasons to buy when in all honesty local independent garages simply one by their product from a reliable online provider such as battery mega store.
